Where Am I?

My Expat-terns

113. When it comes to national holidays, independence days and such, remember those who were not the “nationals” who helped build the nation and especially what nations were and still are there.
2. Avoid saying you’re American while trying to bargain abroad. It may be harder to get a good deal.
73. Stay out late, let the night guide itself; I’m more of “the night is still young” sort of guy though.
42. Drink a lot of water when you are traveling especially when you are sick. Just do it.
101. It is difficult to completely forget a language that is important to you. Though, things can fade regardless.
65. Czech people tell you how it is, no little, no more.
68. Hostel cooking is the greatest test of imagination.
62. Not all “coffee shops” are equal in Amsterdam.
34. Sometimes life is so complicated, surprising, and/or just bizarre at an instance, all you can do is throw your arms in the air, equate the situation to where you are, and exclaim, “Because [Insert Country’s Name]!” For example, you might find about 600 Soles in your host family’s oven while looking for food – Because Peru!
54. Nothing beats getting a haircut in a foreign country. What is more intimate? A conversation with a nice trim is the best way to get to know a city from a local.
