Where Am I?

My Expat-terns

27. You will get sick when you travel. It is not the end of the world. Just rest. Marrakech, Tokyo, and/or possibly Milwaukee will still exist after you recover.
72. Sleep is for the weak … and also the people that want to function at a respectable human level the following day.
12. Chile is not the country to bargain in.
45. Gaining certain alliances and supporting foreign nations demonstrates great levels of acceptance and fraternity on your behalf, but not everything you pick from other countries is always beneficial or politically correct. For example after living in Chile, I cannot stand the Argentine accent. The rivalry has been ingrained!
84. Sometimes, it is better to go home early, especially if your health is in question. You may miss out on some adventures, but there will be more. There always are.
117. The sprinkles are a must try in Sweden. It’s the little things in life.
14. Indulge your inner tourist once in a while. Don’t be ashamed.
110. Tel Aviv is literally the gayest place ever. Ever. As in, there are so many gay people.
48. Sometimes life will lead you into a drum circle. Just accept it at this point.
26. Pack less than you expect you’ll need. You can still buy things when you’re abroad. Also, packing less may make you more sociable. You’ll have to interact, ask questions, and go out into the world in order to get what you want. It may be the necessary kick in your timid pants that you’ll need to start exploring your destination.

This little one was so quiet, Customs almost let us through until I mentioned the rabies vaccination and then they were like — oh, yeah, we need to see that! Go over there!
