Where Am I?

My Expat-terns

25. When you travel, try to stay in one location and revisit places once or twice. A restaurant will always appreciate a returning customer.
95. Italian is one of the most fun languages in which to flirt, especially with actual Italians.
84. Sometimes, it is better to go home early, especially if your health is in question. You may miss out on some adventures, but there will be more. There always are.
55. It’s best not to be a picky eater when traveling, and personally, I think this is true about life in general. It just makes everything so much more complicated. And, complications during travel should be avoided even if they are small. It’s not the end all be all though.
115. Beware in Swedish clubs – if you are a short human being, prepare to be manhandled.
70. I have met a handful of older Czech men who have just scared me shitless. I don’t know about you people, but when an old Czech man starts rambling on to me about chakras, fascism, and his deceased family, I get the fuck out of there!
124. As a rule of thumb, it is good to at least be able to read more than one alphabet/orthography; it can help out in a pinch.
62. Not all “coffee shops” are equal in Amsterdam.
91. Never underestimate the lengthiness of a third culture kid’s life story …
78. When traveling, it’s always interesting to learn the rivalries and grudges that some nations still have for each other even if it’s a little passé nowadays to have or acknowledge them.
